Does anyone know a trustworthy jewellers where I can get a diamond evaluated and checked for clarity etc…?
I need to find someone who can check it for scratches, faults ect so I have an idea what to do with it. It is a brilliant cut, solitaire diamond and its crystal clear. I would love to keep it but financially the only option I have is to sell it. Ihave been told by another jeweler(not a diamond expert), not to let it out of my sight, so I need to be there while it is being checked. It needs to be in Melbourne and I can't afford to go interstate.
There's no one here but me matey and I live in the Caribbean. Better check your local phone book and look for reviews online or ask on Craigslist for your area. I don't know if you have Craigslist down under but I got a sweet deal on a lithe schooner a few months ago.

Find a diamond expert, trained by GIA or AGS, preferably.
If you want a full grading report of your stone, you will *have* to let it out of your sight for a while. A gemological appraiser doesn't do all the work with hand and loupe – there is other professional equipment used. Even if they let you hang out while they do it, it could take several hours of your day – don't you have better things to do then sit silently and watch?
If you can't trust them with your stone, you certainly couldn't trust what they would tell you about it either, you know?
